New Members Welcome

We welcome new members twice a year beginning the first Monday after Labor Day and the second Monday after New Year's Day. The first few rehearsals of our fall or spring semesters allow prospective members to experience the Maplewood Glee Club and become acquainted with members, music, and the conductor.

Rehearsals

Rehearsals are held from 7:45 - 9:45 PM every Monday evening, beginning in early September.  The Maplewood Glee Club rehearses at the DeHart Center, 120 Burnett Avenue, Maplewood, NJ 07040 (Click for Map). There is a 3-4 week break between the Holiday Concert in December and resumption of rehearsals for the Spring Concert in May. The Club does not rehearse during the summer.

Dues

The Maplewood Glee Club is a self-supporting, non-profit organization.  The club must, however, generate sufficient income to present two subscription concerts and pay expenses of music purchases, salaried staff, hall rental, insurance, and scholarship donations. The Club collects dues from members to pay the initial expenses.  Current dues are $40 per year, or $25 per semester.  A music fee is also charged per semester which generally runs about $20.

Club Dress Requirements

Club attire for major concerts is formal and consists of black tuxedo with black cummerbund and tie.  For less formal performances, a Club approved blue blazer, gray slacks, and red tie are worn with white shirt and black shoes.
